Fellowship Church Southwest, the City of Buda, and Hays Communities YMCA announce their joint partnership hosting “The Egg Hunt” Saturday, April 7, 2012, from 9:00-11:30am. The event will be held at the Buda Sportsplex across from the YMCA in Buda.

Admission is FREE to five age-specific egg hunts, inflatable games, face painting, trackless train, rock wall, petting zoo—AND there will be lots of CANDY! Here’s the schedule of events:

9:00…Egg Hunt event begins

9:30…“Parent & Me” (1-2 yrs), 3-4 and 10-11 year-old hunts

9:45…5-6 year-old and 7-9 year-old hunts
We are excited to offer people an opportunity to meet their neighbors and others in the community in a fun and relaxed atmosphere! We are also very excited to be supporting the Bastrop County Food Bank through a canned food drive the day of the event!

FCSW has several ways that you can help make this event a big success, so please look for the Egg Hunt Table as you exit the auditorium across from the Welcome Table. We have several volunteer opportunities for the day of The Egg Hunt.

We will also be accepting candy donations the four weeks of March at our Egg Hunt table. Candy needs to be individually wrapped and—unfortunately—no chocolate.

Thank you for your involvement! We can’t do this without your help!

Walk for Water 2012

Did you realize that 1 billion people on Earth don’t have access to clean water? That’s about 1 out of every 6 people! Many of these have to walk 4-5 miles one way just to get water, but the water they’re getting is contaminated, making them sick and even killing them. In Haiti, 1 in 8 children die before they reach the age of 14, with nearly 90% of these deaths being attributed to unsafe drinking water, inadequate sanitation, or poor hygiene.

We believe that, as Christ-followers, we are called to do something about that. But what can we do? We’re so glad you asked.

This year, we are partnering with Mountain of Hope’s efforts in Creve, Haiti - home to 11,000 people. Mountain of Hope is currently working to install six (6) deep bore-hole wells that should be completed by Fall 2012. This water project will supply a local clean water source for everyone in the village. While they’re working, we’re talking—bringing awareness to the need for clean water across the globe.

Walk for Water is an opportunity to bring awareness to the clean water needs in third world countries and raise support to impact lives by developing clean water systems. On March 31, 2012, we will simulate the daily task of walking for water performed by so many Haitian women and children. With every step we take, we’ll have the chance to experience a small taste of what it’s like to go so far for so little.

You can register to participate in Walk for Water on Sundays in the foyer or online by clicking here. You can also make a donation online here and follow the instructions using the Walk for Water designation. All contributions are tax deductible and will be sent directly to Mountain of Hope so they can continue giving others what we so often take for granted.

It’s been said before that life is a journey. That’s certainly true when we consider the spiritual life. Each and every one of us is somewhere along the path in the journey. Whether you’re just getting started or you’ve logged hundreds of miles, you’ve still got a ways to go. We all do.

The question isn’t “Where are you?” but, rather, “How are you?” How are you doing in your journey? Most of us, if we’re honest, have to confess that we struggle along the path. Somewhere along the way we grew weary, stumbled, and fell. We got up, dusted ourselves off, and hit the trail – only to fall again, and again. It’s not long until discouragement sets in. What do you do with that? How do you find the strength to go on when it seems like the obstacles and pot holes will never cease?

Come to Joy for the Journey, a 4-week class for women at Fellowship during the month of January and learn with us how to walk on with renewed faith, real hope, and righteous love. Starts Jan. 8th at 11:00 am in the choir room.
